MY APPROACH

My approach focuses on encouraging students to think clearly and logically and to develop the writing tools that ensure persuasive, creative, and powerful expression. Grammar can be boring, but it can be learned and it will help the writer to express ideas with precision, clarity, and purpose. Vocabulary development is key to reading with comprehension and writing with meaning. Having taught in large public schools, private schools, and alternative school settings, I am comfortable working with different types of learners at varying levels of achievement. No matter the age of the student, I aim to build confidence in one’s ability to grapple with ideas and to express one’s thoughts and opinions through the written word. I have advanced degrees in English and education from University of Pennsylvania and Harvard College. I am a published author of essays and articles related to education and philanthropy.
